Systems Engineer

Strategy Café is seeking systems engineer candidates with a minimum 5 years experience in the skill set listed below.

Systems Engineers on our Technology Planning and Support Services team are responsible for the on-site technology operations of our clients. Tasks will include the support of our clients businesses, working with our customers to answer any technology related questions they may have, performing on-site engineering and installations, creating and maintaining operational documentation of our customer’s environments, and assisting our central office with the planning and direction of the customer technical roadmap.

Candidates will be:

Candidates will be evaluated based on the following technical skills profile (List is roughly in order of importance):

  • The Windows desktop operating systems (95 though XP)
  • Creation of Documentation
  • Troubleshooting of common business desktop applications (MS Office, Quickbooks, etc. - Not to include Barbie Magic Hair Styler)
  • Anti-Virus / Mal-ware solutions
  • Administering DHCP, DNS, and WINNS
  • Backup and contingency solutions
  • Building and maintaining Microsoft Exchange
  • Building and maintaining POP3/IMAP mail systems
  • Building and maintaining Active Directory (small and mid-sized installations)

  • Various desktop, server, and network hardware not mentioned here

  • Leading projects from conception to delivery
  • WAN components and hardware (Cisco Preferred)

Candidates will be rated on the following items in order of importance:

  • Technical Experience
  • Customer Service Skills
  • Knowledge if industry best practices in matters of desktop, server, and WAN architecture
  • Education

Due to the nature of this position successful candidates must be able to provide their own reliable transportation to and from both Strategy Café’s office and any Virginia-based client sites. This position also has some basic physical requirements, successful candidates must be able to comfortably lift and transport up to 40 lbs unassisted.
